A Room for "Hotel Stundenglück"
I built that little ramshackle hut that is clinging on the building. It was part of "Hotel Stundenglück" which was built up inside the building by several artists. The concept of "Hotel Stundenglück" is "private happiness in public space" - Small rooms all individually designed can be rented for one hour during parties and festivals. You just give a donation, then it's yours for one hour and you can do what ever you want in it. The concept of "Hotel Stundenglück" is very successful.
The name of my small installation was "Das letzte Loch" which means something like dosshouse. I tried to make sure that there where no rectangles in it and then I painted it in mouldy green and let shreds of plastic hanging from the ceiling. Finally I put in an old disgusting mattress that I wrapped in plastic for hygienic reasons and a blanket which was patterned like a leopard so it would be cosier. It was even almost possible to have private sphere by using the old yellowed curtains that I hung besides the window and the door.
I thought that this ambience could attract people who like having extraordinary experiences. But in the end nobody wanted to rent "Das letzte Loch". It was just used as a sleeping place by some people who couldn't find their tents any more.
If I would decorate another room for "Hotel Stundenglück" it would be nice and beautiful.
